Simchat Torah

Simchat Torah at Congregation Emeth

We celebrate Simchat Torah through song, prayer and dancing with our Torahs on this holiday. We remove the Torah from the ark and completely unroll it in front of everyone attending services. We will see the Five Books of the Torah before our eyes and tell some of its stories. The scrolls are then rolled back onto their Aitzei Chayim (wooden holders). They will be rolled back to Bereishit  (Genesis) to be ready to begin reading the Torah from the beginning, and returned to the ark. Congregants of all ages enjoy dancing and singing on this joyous occasion.
